Transfer Scholars

Program Purpose

Traditionally, financial aid awards are determined on an annual basis, making it difficult for students and families to plan for their college careers. The UC Merced Transfer Scholars Program provides predictable financial resources for students so they can thrive academically and become active participants of a world-class research institution like UC Merced. Incoming Transfer Scholars receive a minimum of $50,000 over two years at UC Merced.

Selection Process

  • Be a California resident
  • Minimum 2.5 transfer GPA
  • Complete the FAFSA by the priority deadline each year (March 2nd
  • Submit all required documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by the established deadline each year
  • Qualify for federal Pell Grant as determined by your FAFSA
  • Have sufficient financial need as determined by the UC Merced Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships
  • Maintain active participation and eligibility in the Transfer Scholars Program

In addition, student test scores and GPA are taken into consideration using students' Admission's Application.
All sources of gift-aid (e.g. scholarships, grants, waivers, VA & Voc Rehab benefits) will count toward meeting the $50,000 transfer guarantee.
